Dear readers,

I must confess,I woke up with little energy for writing, simply because I feel lazy. Not sure where to place the blame,I will go with Christmas mood.My body is ready to rest for a while.

My best purchase is no brainer-books. I have added a number of titles to my African authors book collection.

Day 9 of #BOTY2019: Drink

When 2019 began, I made a healthy living resolution. One of the things I vowed to do was zumba, stay away from processed drinks,stay away from junk and processed foods. I went ahead and  cut out soda and her sisters and cousins and maintained a glass of wine once in a while. I did Zumba for a while until I got busy and turned to walking more than ever.

I`m a tea person and this has been my go to drink this year.I couple my tea with mukwano tea bags,Kericho gold tea bags (they have a variety of spices),Kisubi ginger,and try out other tea spices to keep it fresh and exciting.

Day 8 of #BOTY2019: Meal/Food/Cuisine

I am a foodie-a person with a particular interest in food. An adventurous foodie who always tries out new dishes and her stomach goes unharmed.

This year ,I tried out the shawarma and I was disappointed. I felt the spices were undecided and no one wants to eat food that has indecisive spices-at least not me. Ugandan spices are very distinct and straight to the point.

I had a girls night out with one of my best friends at Torino Bar and Restaurant in Kololo (Kampala-Uganda). I ordered for  sizzling Chinese pork and potato wedges ,while she ordered for chicken biryani. The food was mouth watering.The potato wedges had been dipped in sweet cream-my guess,because they were sweet and extra.The chicken biryani was to die for and had huge pieces of chicken-Christmas came early. The band played ballads to soothe our souls and  got us swaying as we enjoyed our meal and conversation.

Day 7 of #BOTY2019: Experience

I have 1000 experiences that have qualified to be on my #BOTY2019 ward list. I could talk about them until the cows come home.

Experience one is courtesy of my work place-African Writers Trust. What an experience it has been working with a place that agrees with my passion and calling. I love going to work each day-no lie!!

Experience two was on adulting 101.I promised to pay for Ann (baby sister in O-level),for a school trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park. I totally forgot about it until Ann called me in tears. I had to find that money and fulfill my promise. I think I took the trophy home,for best sister in the world(sorry Ronnet and Joy. Work hard in 2020)

Experience three goes to hangouts with my girlfriends.You ladies bring balance to my busy life.You bring laughter,heat,crazy,prayer and so much more.2019 wouldn`t have been the same without you. Keep the dates coming in 2020.

What is an album?

According to Collins dictionary,An album is a collection of songs that is available for download, or as a CD or record. You can also refer to the CD or record as an album.

On that note, the award goes to;

This man is a musical genius and this album speaks and shows that off . The lyrical content is rich,the instrumentals and melodies are to die for. I love every song and I`ve had the album on replay since I got it.

Sanyu by Sanyu

Sanyu is one of the best albums I`ve listened to this year. Every song has a story to tell and my favorite off the album is Beauty but again,I like all the 10 songs. She has mad vocal strength. If you love India Arie, like me,you will love everything about Sanyu.

Day 5 of #BOTY2019:Song

“Where words leave off,music begins”-Heinrich Heine,was a German poet, writer and literary critic.

Music puts into words emotions,experiences,drama and adds spice,rhythm,tunes,melodies and gives you harmonies,stability and the `I know what your going through feel.`’

My best song this year has been Goodness of God by Bethel music.

With every breath that I am able,

I will sing of the goodness of God

I have seen the goodness of God over and over in 2019.He has held my hand through the good and the bad and this song painted this journey so well.

I have my playlist full of favorite songs but this has been my anthem.

Day 4 of #BOTY2019

As a lover of books,I will spend time pouring over a good book. I love fiction-a good story created by a genius. Although,this is true,there are non fiction books that will not be ignored.Here is one a friend recommended.

Strength of Character by Joseph Kabuleeta

We all need character to survive in this world. The author spoke to my heart,gave me reasons to understand why people (and myself included) do what they do. He also gives the hows to grow character ,esteem and so much more.He shares from his personal life experiences and adds a biblical perspective to each topic,which is the icing on the cake.

Day 3 of #BOTY2019

Books never get old.I have done more reading than movie watching this year.I`m spoilt for choice on which book to list here. Here are my top three because we are on day 3 of #BOTY2019.

Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo

This book begs you to read it and when you do,you thank yourself for it. It spins a tale like no other. A tale of love & betrayal,infidelity,infertility and sex. I like how African authors are speaking about sex and infertility- topics that were considered taboo.They are bringing them to the table and subtly demanding a discussion.

The Secret Lives of Baba Segi`s Wives by Lola Shoneyin

Lola Shoneyin writes a bold, audacious,witty and scandalous book. It highlights family drama,sexual politics between Baba Segi and his wives; fertility and how men also have issues that need to be addressed, before the blame for not having children`s shifted to the women. This book shakes tables of the elders.lol

Manchester Happened by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi

Jennifer helps me understand the hardships of Ugandans in the UK. I thought that people who traveled to the UK or USA had it easy,they made more money and were supposed to send support to the relatives back at home. The book paints a picture of what Ugandans go through just to make ends meet and appease the relatives back home.The book gives you home (Uganda) and UK in a few pages.

Best TV Show Season

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Day 2 :Category two of the Best of the Year 2019 awards.

My list will prove to you that I have read more books than I have watched TV shows.haha!!

Blacklist Season 5

I started re- watching Blacklist recently when a friend shared all seasons with me.Raymond Reddington is a WHOLE vibe. I have Season 6 & 7 lined up for me to watch over the weekend. I`m a home body like that. lol

When They See Us

Ava Duvernay got me crying and wailing at the injustice the boys faced at such a young age. This show wrecked me emotionally and had me pledging to give off love.It was worth my time and tears.

I have a to watch list with Money Heist 3 as number one-because I enjoyed season 1 &2 .

 Afro Bloggers on twitter are responsible for #BOTY2019 (Best of the Year 2019) blog prompts. Last year,I missed out on it but this year,I`m all for it. A blog ,a day for 25 days.Talk about a challenge!!

Day 1: Movie

And the award for best movie(s) goes to;

1.Avengers End Game

Infinity War left me with a yearning for Avengers End Game. I had to see what happened to my family members,lol. Thanos is that cousin who always has an  A-Z plan. When plan A fails,he goes for plan B,C,D until they all fail and he has to go down with a fight.

2.John Wick Chapter 3

I went to the cinema with some of my girlfriends and we enjoyed this movie. The action is intense and gruesome.

3. Five feet apart

I hope to watch movies from my homeland in 2020.
