UPGRADE

I have been going through a blog upgrade phase, rethinking things about my blog and its future. I had to change a few things here and there. I promised myself not to blog until everything was finalized.

I got lazy along the way, failed to meet the timelines, gave myself excuses for not doing it. I got sad and just lost morale to do it all together for a while until one day I woke up with a renewed determination.

I did a back and forth with a few friends asking for their opinion on the blog lay out, colours, etc. During the feedback sessions, I had to learn this truth:

Never ask for feedback if you aren`t ready to receive it. Your heart might be shattered. Usually because you`ve put in too much and you think other people don`t understand. I took the feedback regardless of how I felt and incorporated it in.

I am happy to say, I finally got the job done and here is the new site http://rachealkizza.com/. Be sure to check it out and follow so you don`t miss out on dope content.

For everyone who has visited me since this site was opened, thank you so much. See you on the other side.

Day 22 of #BOTY2019: The best story you heard/read

I will obviously go with best story you read. Helon Habila`s Travelers wins this one. This book is brilliant, the story line is unpredictable and gripping. The whole time,I wondered why people travel across the seas to get away from Africa? Helon takes us on a journey to understand why people leave Africa, the conditions they go through on water and when they finally get to the promised land. At some point,I could n`t stomach the tale. I had to put the book away.

Day 20 of #BOTY2019 :Fashion/style trend

A fashion trend according to Quora.com  is a particular style, or clothing popular at a certain point of time or a particular period of time.

I wore whatever I was comfortable with this year. I`m t-shirt ,jeans and sneakers kinda girl and I wore them this year. I have a pair of boots I bought in Nairobi a while back and it has come in handy in this ever changing Kampala weather.

I also have a liking for jumpsuits and dungarees,I own a couple of them.I hope in 2020 the fashionistas will invent jumpsuits and dungarees that are easy to take off once in the rest rooms, because the current ones are a nightmare.

What was your favorite fashion trend this year?

Day 18 of #BOTY2019: Travel experience(Place you went)

Kutambula kulaba is a common phrase coined by baganda whose literal translation is to travel is to see or traveling is seeing. hehehe!!

When you travel you see the other side of life, how people live, experience different cultures, eat food that might not exist where you come from. There`s so much learning that happens when one travels.

This year, my friends and I planned a trip to Fort Portal, which according to Wikipedia is a designated “Tourism city of Uganda”, located in the Western Region of the country. It is the seat of both Kabarole District and the Toro Kingdom. We visited the female and male hot springs-they are so hot that they let you boil an egg and you take it for eating later. We visited Amabere ga Nyinamwiru caves-these caves are shaped inform of nipples, Toro Palace-they have a king though we didn`t find him there, various waterfalls and so much more. The land is beautiful, the people are hospitable and the weather is perfect. Add it to your 2020 bucket list, already.

Day 15 of #BOTY2019: Person You Met

We are on day 15 and I`m celebrating coming this far in the #BOTY2019 challenge by keeping it short.

I reconnected with Peace ,a friend from high school at a hospital where my mother was admitted. She is a nurse ,not at the hospital, but the nursing school of the hospital. I was looking for certain things my mum needed when we met. She offered to give them to me like it was nothing. I was elated and speechless at the same time. Peace went a step further to come and check on my mum. She will definitely make the best of nurses.

The other person is K. The humor and sarcasm K has is for the Commonwealth. lol. PS;K if you see this, ignore it and drink your coffee.

I`m excited to read in the comment section who made it to your best person you met in 2019 list.

Day 14 of #BOTY2019: Blog post

The blogshere is full of creatives who are blogging about their travels,food,fashion and beauty,lifestyle, and so much more. I get to learn and be inspired from Uganda.How cool is that? With that said,here are some of my favorite blog posts from 2019;

Blog post: Pregnancy; A journey of Myriad discoveries.

Cynthia gives us a peak into her pregnancy journey. I loved this article because its bold and unashamed. I love how Cynthia connects sex ,pregnancy with God,giving us a full view of how great God is. The bible verses and the encouragement hints are an icing to an already tasty cake. Here is a link to the article-https://cynthiakyofuna.wordpress.com/2019/12/12/pregnancy-a-journey-of-myriad-discoveries/?fbclid=IwAR3Vu1efPOJlROgEKowjECKUZyTJ21V-PxKL7YVseolKCGC2GceKqQYvqFo

Blog post 2: If I Were A boy

From my own writing, its got to be my birthday blog https://rachealkizza.wordpress.com/2019/11/29/27-onto-28/. These lessons reveal different seasons of my life. Seasons which have stories which birthed the lessons.

Please share with me blog posts you`ve read and loved. I will be sure to check them out.

Day 13 of #BOTY2019: Lesson learned

I have come to believe that there are lessons laced in every person, situation, and whatever we go through. The lesson could be good or bad. Question for you the reader, are there bad lessons?

This year in November,I turned 28,such a big number. I blogged about my lessons here-https://rachealkizza.wordpress.com/2019/11/29/27-onto-28/

From that blog, my biggest lesson, turned mantra is ,Don`t criticize what you aren`t  doing and can`t do. Appreciate the fact that someone woke up and did their thing. Hope you are doing yours too.

I`m curious to know what lessons 2019 has offered you. Please share in the comment section.

Day 11 of #BOTY2019: Purchase

Dear readers,

I must confess,I woke up with little energy for writing, simply because I feel lazy. Not sure where to place the blame,I will go with Christmas mood.My body is ready to rest for a while.

My best purchase is no brainer-books. I have added a number of titles to my African authors book collection.

Second best purchase, tees from Hweza Creations. I love tees with words, and Hweza Creations gets me. Read about Hweza Creations –https://rachealkizza.wordpress.com/2019/11/22/my-friends-hustles-part-1/

What has been your best purchase this year?

Day 6 of #BOTY2019: Album

What is an album?

According to Collins dictionary,An album is a collection of songs that is available for download, or as a CD or record. You can also refer to the CD or record as an album.

On that note, the award goes to;

Long Live Love -Kirk Franklin

This man is a musical genius and this album speaks and shows that off . The lyrical content is rich, the instrumentals and melodies are to die for. I love every song and I`ve had the album on replay since I got it.

How can it be that you love the most unlovable part of me, of me?
How could you see your life was the only gift I’ll ever need to be free?
It’s amazing with you, I win even if I lose
Everything’s working for my good for always
He saved the day
He will come through
He won’t doubt, that’s not what super heroes do (Hallelujah)
No greater love makes my heart beat
All I wanna do is make you proud of me (that’s why)
-Love Theory
Sanyu by Sanyu
Sanyu is one of the best albums I`ve listened to this year. Every song has a story to tell and my favorite off the album is Beauty but again,I like all the 10 songs. She has mad vocal strength. If you love India Arie, like me,you will love everything about Sanyu.
Follow her on Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/SANYUSINGS/

Share with me your best album this year.
