Life had her through a tunnel,
She breathed the cold air in
Small, uncertain steps.
Through a bend
The bend of a new season
A season of red
She wanted to walk away from it all
She looked to the left,
Saw promise, a springing forth but held back

The season beckoned
Yet she stood
The season dressed her
Yet she stood
Unwavering,
In need of something more
Too many disappointments registered
Accusations,
Logical discussions

Colored leaves everywhere
With a promise of a new dawn
A dawn of a new era
She perceived it not
Yet the bible she believes
Knows that all creation groans and waits for the manifestation of the true sons of God

But her pain was at the centre
The new season could wait
Let go, a whisper is heard in the wind
Who is that? She demands
All things work together for your good…surrender, more whispers
Let go

Her back straightens
Her face lights up
Color retraces her steps into her life
Color marks her
She is surrendered
Ready to give in, lean in

The weight of her pain fell off
She turns the other cheek.

Nzuri Textures

This month I get to share with y’all my favorite sites to go to for a little inspiration in hair, makeup, food, fashion and style.Today we focus on a blog run by two beau-ti-ful ladies, they are Team Natural and today they share with us their journey .

1.What is Nzuri textures and how long has it been running?

Nzuri Textures is a platform created by two natural hair enthusiasts, to show women how they can find beauty in having their hair in their natural state. In Uganda there are not so many platforms that teach and guide people on natural hair. The beauty bloggers on the internet show how they manage hair using international branded products. Unfortunately, we dont have access to those products. So Nzuri Textures strives to teach Ugandans how to handle their hair, with the products accessible to them. We have been running Nzuri Textures for 6 months now.

2.Who are the faces behind Nzuri textures?

Nzuri Textures is edited by Rowena Lubowa and Lydia Kahuga, who love everything natural.

3.How do you balance running a blog alongside your everyday jobs, being lawyers is no easy task?

Well, we cant say we are experts at this. But we make really good use of planners. We make time for the photoshoots and the editing of articles. Basically the trick is in planning and sticking to the plans.

4.Achievements since blog formation

Having a readership that learns from us and values the information that we give them

5.Lessons learnt since blog formation.

+ It’s hard to achieve something that you want, unless you make time for it.

+Listen to your readership and deliver content that they can relate to

6.Tips for natural hair sisters .

Avoid heat and enjoy water (drinking it and spraying it in your hair)

7.People /brands you would love to work with.

Brands: Kentaro, Movit, Kweli skin organics

People: Imigani, Third Local

8 .If you were an animal, what would it be?

Love me anyway

When I can’t smile like I used too,

love me anyway

When you realize I am not that perfect,

Love me anyway.

When you see my worst self piling up,

Love me anyway.

When insecurities kick in so loud,

Love me anyway.

When I can’t stand others being around you,

Love me anyway.

When I can’t put off the cloth of selfishness,

Love me anyway………

Simply love me like Christ loved the church-relentlessly,with no strings attached.

Love me anyway.

A beckoning

With each tingling tag my emotions are awakened

Awakened to a beckoning –

A beckoning so sweet that if it stopped I would yield anyway

Yield to the beckoning as I desire to taste and see His goodness

A beckoning that expects no `oohs’ and `aaahhs’ but a YES Lord like Isaiah

In Isaiah 5:8 -9, “ whom shall I send and he replies, ` Here am I!”Send me(NKJV)

A meaningful surrender to the author of all times

One not ready to use your vulnerability against you but FOR YOU.

Yield to the beckoning  with a yes, Lord; Yes, Lord!!!!

I yield my will, emotions, uncertainty, purpose, baggage, pain & heartache………..all of it

I yield in total surrender.
